Žižkovský Vysílač - Prague Television Tower
Czechs: Žižkovský Vysílač or the Prague Television Tower is a 216 metre high example of high-tech architecture and structural expressionism. Built between 1985 & 1993 by architect: Václav Aulický and the structural engineer: Jiří Kozák, this $19 million tower is a work of art! Being a member of The World Federation of Great Towers, it’s for sure a place to visit! Especially if you like concrete like I do. There is a large 360 view in the observatory which is a good 93 metres high. In 2000, Czech artist, David Černý installed 10 sculptures which he names ‘miminka’. These fibreglass babies were placed crawling up and on the tower. The public loved them so much that they became a permanent feature to the tower. In 2013, a luxury 1 room hotel was added and it includes a big free standing bath so you could look at the city views in comfort.
